It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to SEK International School Atlántico. Over three decades the tireless effort and, above all, the enthusiasm and hard work of our entire educational community has allowed us to proudly say that we are one of the best bilingual schools in Spain and the only one in Galicia that is authorised to teach the three International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes.
Today we embark on a school year that holds more challenges than ever with the greatest enthusiasm to ensure our students enjoy unforgettable learning experiences.
Over recent months we have reconditioned our school to adapt spaces and facilitate the internal mobility of students and staff, so that the school continues to be a welcoming place for everyone despite these extraordinary circumstances. We will care for the emotional well-being of our students with a Welcome Plan developed by our department of counsellors and psychologists, and we will work on the new organisational measures. We will base our education model this academic year on principles of flexibility, responsibility, teamwork, and collaborative learning.
The school has successfully passed the COVID Free audit, which has allowed us to take a close look at our protocols, which we began to apply during lockdown and which we have been adapting to the successive official health guidelines and regulations.
We have also designed a distance education protocol, anticipating potential future full or partial lockdowns. In order to ensure this, we have made a major investment in technology, to renew all the resources from last year, without interrupting the renovation plan for touch panels, computers and school furniture that we started a few years ago.
Hopefully the global situation will gradually improve and that we can be more flexible with all the special measures we have in place, so that we can return to normal as soon as possible. However, in the meantime, we will continue with all the projects that directly contribute to your children’s education, a unique education model that is committed to internationality, bilingualism, STEAM subjects, training in skills for the 21st century, technology and individualised teaching.
All this is possible thanks to a team of teachers and administrative staff that are totally dedicated to the true protagonists of the educational process, the students.
We are grateful to you for the trust our students and their families have placed in us and we are at your disposal, with the support of the school’s teaching team, to ensure the full academic and personal development of your children. To those families who are not yet part of our marvellous community, I invite you to get in touch with us and discover a unique and different education model for your children.
